Postural restoration is a treatment philosophy using both manual therapy techniques and exercise designed to help restore the body to a more aligned position. Postural Restoration trained therapists recognize the innate imbalances in the human body due to patterns of overuse that cause structural weakness and musculoskeletal pain. Postural restoration philosophy identifies muscle, skeletal, and breath (diaphragmatic) imbalances. Many of the exercises and manual therapy techniques are focused on the ribcage, diaphragm, and compensatory movement patterns in order to maximize body motion, functional strength, and integrate left- and right-sided function.
