Sara Costa, PT, MSPT

Physical Therapist

Sara has been a physical therapist in Rhode Island and Vermont since graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1997 with a B.S. in Kinesiology and St. Catherine University in 2001 with a Masters in Physical Therapy. Originally from Minnesota, she began her career in Rhode Island in sub-acute rehab settings where she honed her skills working with patients of all ages with a variety of orthopedic and neurological impairments. In 2005, she changed focus to outpatient physical therapy where she has been working ever since. Sara has worked with a wide variety of patients and diagnoses over the last 23 years including special interest and success with headache and migraine management, repetitive motion disorders, acute and chronic neck and back pain, joint replacement, general orthopedics, Parkinson’s disease, rehabilitation following stroke, neurodegenerative and movement disorders, recovery from fractures, sprains and strains, gait and balance impairments, dizziness/vestibular disorders, TMJ dysfunction, fall prevention, acute and chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and hypermobility.

Sara prides herself in developing long term bonds and trust with her patients. She spends time really getting to know what makes her patients click and learns what is important to them both in the short and long term. Sara is known to provide physical therapy with friendliness, enthusiasm, professionalism, a good sense of humor, and a focus on meaningful individual goals at a pace that works best for each person. She believes in treating the whole person when developing her treatment plans, looking at the forest, not just the trees.

In her free time, Sara loves spending time with her husband Dave and their dog Gail, visiting family and friends, traveling all over New England and Quebec, going on impromptu road trips, hiking, birding, photography, cooking, tending to her garden, and finding new adventures.
